TAKING ELEVEN CLINIC LOCATIONS FROM INVISIBLE TO DOMINANT IN LOCAL SEARCH

A multi-location behavioral health provider ran eleven outpatient clinics across one state, each competing in its own local market against its own set of competitors. Its location pages were splitting authority instead of covering territory, and a single site-wide ranking number was hiding which markets were actually visible. Alan Morgan Group rebuilt the program around the location as the unit of inventory rather than the website as the unit of work.

THE CHALLENGES

ELEVEN MARKETS BEHAVING LIKE ONE WEBSITE

A business with one location has one search problem. A business with eleven has eleven, plus a twelfth that only appears once the first eleven are running: the locations start competing with each other.

01. Location pages that cancelled each other out Near-identical pages differing only by city name. Google reads eleven pages saying the same thing, picks one to rank, and usually not the one nearest the searcher. The other ten dilute rather than cover.

02. Measurement that hid the real picture A single site-wide ranking number is close to meaningless for a multi-location business. A brand can hold position four nationally while being invisible three miles from one of its own front doors, because the map pack is drawn from where the searcher is standing.

03. Listings ready to sync before they were ready to trust Citation tools push a business record to hundreds of directories within days. Whatever the tool holds becomes the truth everywhere, including a stale suite number or a changed phone line.

THE SOLUTION

TREAT EVERY LOCATION AS SEPARATE INVENTORY

The program was rebuilt on one idea: each clinic is a distinct piece of inventory competing in a distinct market, and it needs its own content, its own verified business record, its own measurement and its own line in the reporting. The website is the delivery mechanism, not the unit of work.

The order mattered as much as the work. Reconciliation came before any listing distribution was enabled, because sync is fast and one-directional, and an unreconciled push replaces eleven correct records with eleven confident wrong ones.

LOCAL RECORD Each Google Business Profile treated as the single source of truth, with the management tool reconciled against it record by record before any citation sync.

CONTENT Location pages differentiated on what is genuinely different by market: services running at that site, hours, intake process, surrounding area.

REACH An education library aimed at the questions people search before they are ready to call anyone, rather than at the services the organization sells.

MEASUREMENT Map-pack position measured on a grid of points around each clinic and averaged, so the number describes what a patient sees on a phone.

REPORTING Bi-weekly cycles on a fixed set of sources, each carrying the prior period alongside the current one, including the cycles that went sideways.

SCOPE OF WORK

A PROGRAM RUN ON A FIXED CADENCE

01 Business profile reconciliation All eleven location records audited against the live profile before citation distribution was enabled.

02 Location page differentiation Market-specific content, services, hours and intake detail per clinic.

03 Education content library Pre-decision question coverage feeding the pages that convert.

04 Local grid measurement Weekly grid scans per location on the core service terms.

05 Service line launches New service pages built, indexed and measured from a stated baseline cycle.

06 Bi-weekly reporting Eight consecutive cycles from a fixed source set, with prior-period figures carried forward.

THE RESULTS

GROWTH THAT COMPOUNDED ACROSS A FULL YEAR

METRIC BEFORE AFTER CHANGE
Organic clicks 1,047 2,156 +106%
Search impressions 172,044 268,681 +56%
Average search position ~42 ~12 30 positions
Sessions 1,864 3,491 +87%
Ahrefs modeled organic traffic 1,241 monthly visits (April) 2,437 monthly visits (August) +96%

Organic clicks, impressions, average position and sessions compare August 9 to September 6, 2026 against the same dates in 2025. Ahrefs modeled traffic compares April 2026 with August 2026; July 2026 was an exceptional peak at 3,024 and August settled back from it. Search Console retains roughly 16 months of daily data, so these are matched same-window comparisons rather than full prior-year totals.

~18,965 8 of 10 5
Organic clicks across the trailing twelve months, on 2.28M impressions Clinics holding a top-three map-pack average, two of them at a perfect 1.0 Separate clinic pages ranking on one high-intent service term, four of them top-three

The growth was not a spike. Organic clicks climbed across eight consecutive reporting cycles, from 1,547 to 2,156. One cycle in that run showed clicks flat while impressions rose 13%, the normal shape of newly surfacing queries settling into position before they convert to visits.

Engagement held while the audience nearly doubled. Bounce rate stayed at 44.7% against an 87% increase in sessions. Larger audiences almost always dilute.

WHAT IT MEANS

The client now knows, per location, whether it is visible in its own market, and can see that answer the way a patient on a phone would see it. The locations stopped competing for the same queries and started covering separate territory, which is the difference between eleven pages and eleven front doors. The reporting cadence that produced these numbers is the same cadence that will surface the next problem before it becomes one.
